Parachute Activities

River Swimming

The players stand round the edge of the parachute holding onto the edge at waist height.

The players are named after fish like Trout, Pike and Salmon. The names should be evenly spread round the parachute.

The leader calls out instructions and the fish respond.

“The Salmon are leaping” – the parachute is mushroomed and the Salmon leap under the parachute and swim around.

“The Pike are biting” – the Pike go underneath the parachute and the Salmon leap out and return to their places.

“The Trout are swimming”- the Trout go und the parachute and keep away from the Pike.

“The tide is turning”- All the fish under the parachute swim out and swim around the outside while the parachute is turned over.

“The fish are hungry” – Any fish under the parachute go down to the bottom of the river looking for food.

“Fisherman’s hook” - All the fish return to the edge.

More actions can be invented and the fish and the actions can be put together in any order.
