Parachute Activities

On the Beach

The parachute lies flat on the ground.

The players are told that half of the parachute is the sea and half is the beach. They are to go and sit on the beach.

When they are all lying down and “sun bathing”, the leader asks them which beach in the world do they imagine they are lying on.

The leader tells them that it is so hot that they must pretend to put on sun glasses and rub on their suntan cream.

The leader then hands out pretend ice creams, which everyone pretends to enjoy.

The leader then tells them that the problem with this beach is the occasional tidal wave. Immediately the leader and an assistant hold the opposite sides of the sea and fold it over the sun bathers, completely covering them inside the parachute.

When the laughter has died down, the sea returns to its proper place and the sun bathing resumes.

This time when the tidal wave returns, the leader adds a plague of “tickly” crabs tickling the sun bathers under the parachute.
