Parachute Activities

Pass the Handshake

The children stand around the edge of the parachute and hold on to the edge with both hands. They then start to mushroom the parachute by lifting and lowering the parachute all together.

Once this has been done a few times to get air trapped inside the parachute and it is at its highest point, everyone takes one step forward into the circle and quickly brings the edge of the parachute down behind their backs and sits down on the edge.

All the children will then be sitting inside the parachute tent.

One player starts by shaking the hand of the person on their left and says, “Hello! What is your name?” That player give a reply and then turns to the person on their left and asks the same question and shakes hands.

And so the handshake passes round the tent.

The first person now turns to the player on their right and starts the handshake and question going the other way.

When the handshakes meet, the question is changed to, “Hello!” How are you?”
