Keeping child learning resources current

Monday, 7 January 2008

The world is constantly changing and so with it are social attitudes, behaviours, and trends. With this in mind all educational resources need to consider how relevant they are to the current social norms. Keeping a child intellectually stimulated requires constant regulation to ensure that they are focussed on the challenges given to them.

There are a number of factors to consider when updating your learning materials. While it is difficult to say, television programmes often give great clues to popular trends, fashions, and memes; memes being defined by memetic theory as a unit of cultural information - a cultural 'virus' as it were. Consider popular computer games and board games as educating children with a learning resource that has similarities with a child's extra curricular activities can help to maintain their focus.
