Deleting Temporary Internet Files
Every time you visit a web page part of that page is cached (stored) on your hard disc of your computer. The reason for this is to give you quicker access to the web site when you visit it again.
If you use the Internet a lot then your 'Temporary Internet Files' folder will obviously increase in size. Periodically it is good to clear out these files for various reasons:
To make your machine run quicker.
To clear out any pages with errors on.
To clear out your hard disc.
Sometimes when you visit a web site there may be some errors on a particular page due to transfer, loss of data or server down time, these pages are then cached to your hard disc and when you revisit that web page the computer could become confused as to which page is the updated page. You would then keep on receiving errors on that particular page unless you delete the Temporary Internet Files.
Step 1
To start the process of deleting Temporary Internet Files, firstly click on the 'Tools' drop down menu and select 'Internet options' from the list.
Step 2
Once the 'Internet Options' window appears make sure that the 'General' tab window is displayed.
Step 3
Half way down the 'General' tab window you will see a button saying 'Delete Files' in the 'Temporary Internet Files' section. Click on this button and a small 'Delete Files' window will appear.
Step 4
You will see in the 'Delete Files' window an option to also delete offline content - these are pages that you have viewed offline away from the internet. If you want to delete the offline content place a tick in the box and then click on 'OK'. The Temporary Internet Files will then be deleted and all you need to do then is click on 'OK'.

How to use Activities
@school offer online activities to help with learning online. Some activities are html based and others require Shockwave Flash to work.
All activities are in line with National Curriculum and where applicable are linked with other online activities and appropriate web links. This allows the user to work through a progression of associated work without having to click back to the original list.
For example; 2 x table > 3 x table > 4 x table etc….
@school online activities also have navigation bars at the top and bottom of the page. The bottom navigation is explained below:
Shows how many attempts you have had with a particular activity
Displays your score for the activity
Mark the activity, which will display ticks and crosses
Show answers only after you have tried at least one question
Refresh the activity at any time if you want to start again
Print out the activity so that it looks like a proper worksheet
View the next activity or web site that is part of this progression
View the previous activity or web site that is part of this progression

How to use Clipart
The clipart area not only gives you access to links to free clipart sites on the web, but also relevant clipart provided by @school.
When you are within a subject area and see this icon *** next to an item this means that there is some clipart for you to use.
When you click on the title you will see that the clipart is displayed as small thumbnails :
To view the clipart just click on the thumbnail and a larger version will appear:
If you want to use this clipart in another application such as a word processor then you could copy and paste the clipart. Click your right hand mouse button on the clipart and select 'Copy' from the menu that appears.
You can then 'paste' the clipart into another application.
You can also save the clipart to your hard disc or floppy disc by clicking your right hand mouse button and choosing 'Save' from the options.
This will then ask you where you want the clipart to be saved.
You can also change the name and type of the file.

How to Use Search @school and Fast Find
There are two ways of searching the @school web site. One way is to type in a keyword into the 'Keyword' search that appears at the bottom of every page on the web site. This is the right hand side box :
The type of keywords that you would type in are 'Romans', 'literacy', 'Spanish Armada', 'graphs', 'frogs', etc...
Keywords can be combined to give more specific searches, a space or a plus (+) between words is treated as AND. e.g. Roman soldier will find references to these categories combined; Roman+soldier will do the same.
A comma (,) between keywords is treated as OR. e.g. Roman, soldier will find all references to Roman and separate references to soldier.
A minus (-) between words excludes references to the word following the minus. e.g. Roman-soldier will find all references to Roman except those which include information on soldiers.
Minus (-) plus (+) comma (,) or space can be combined to give very accurate searches e.g. Roman+soldier-Britain will find all references to Roman soldiers except those referring to Britain
The other type of search is a fast search (@school Fast Find) that allows you to define what area you are looking for. For example, choosing a subject or area from the drop down menu and then search from there.
