Parachute Activities

Number Line

Every child is given a number ramdomly or they can pick a number out of a bag which is written on a piece of paper.

They are not allowed to tell anyone their number by speaking, no talking allowed!

The children then have the task of putting themselves in the correct order for the number sequence around the parachute, which is lying flat on the floor.

Children can use sign language e.g. show which number they are using fingers.

To see whether they have placed themselves in the correct order they can call out their number in order around the circle. If the number line is not correct then at the end of calling numbers the children can have another try and then call out the numbers again.

When they get the correct order the numbers can be mixed up again and the game can start again.

To extend the game from just counting from '1' in order the teacher could give more complex number sequences and also start from a number like '67' etc.

This game helps to mix groups up and have children interacting with each other.
