Parachute Activities Feel a Shape

Several 3D shapes, such as triangle, cube, or sphere, are placed under the parachute before the children enter the room. The children sit round the edge of the parachute. Two children are sent onto the parachute and they feel for one of the shapes. They then describe it to the rest of the children using words like, sides, straight, round, curved, surfaces, vertices, straight, and edges. The other children try to name the shape. When they have guessed it, two different children go onto the parachute and describe a different shape.
