The teacher will have to do a bit of research before this game can be started and find lists of food chains. Enough elements of the food chain will have to be found to each player in the group. If there are only a few elements in a particular food chain then smaller groups of children can play at a time or children could work in pairs etc.

Every child is given an element in the food chain ramdomly or they can pick an element out of a bag which is written on a piece of paper.

They are allowed to speak to each other because they need to decide which element eats what and where they fit into the chain.

The chiildren then line up around the outside of the parachute which is lying flat on the floor. They try and decide the correct order for the food chain.

Once they have lined up they can check to see whether they are right by each child calling out what they are. Everyone can then see if they agree with the order.

This game helps to mix groups up and have children interacting with each other.
